Johan Santana; The Mets Bandaid
Two wins in the past nine games have shoved the NY Mets 5.5 games back of the Marlins in the NL East. After an embarrassing showing against Atlanta last week, a lost series in Colorado, and a dismal start to the series against Florida, the Mets brought the noise with their star southpaw Johan Santana. Santana pitched well enough, and the Mets held on for a 5-3 victory, but there were several interesting notes taken from the game.
The most interesting note was that Carlos Delgado was riding pine. After sucking golf balls through garden hoses for most of his tenure with the Mets, Delgado was finally reprimanded.
Sweeping Clean

Carlos Beltran seems to finally be recovering from his 2007 hangover. For the past 10 games, the NY Mets centerfielder has been outstanding, despite the fact the Mets have only won 4 of those contests.
Beltran has 14 hits in 42 at bats for a .333 batting average over the past ten games. Unfortunately his OBP isn't much higher as he's only added a pair of walks, but at a respectable .380 nobody's complaining.

After this week’s episode by Willie Randolph, some answers may finally be coming in to the light of why this is happening. Randolph playing ‘the race card’ is one of the most unprofessional and absurd things ever heard of.
Billy the Blab Wagner
The New York Mets Billy Wagner is at it again. During his most recent weekly radio interview, Billy Wagner again ripped his NY Mets teammates and stirred things up in the clubhouse.
"You should be talking to the guys over there," Wagner barked at the reporters in the locker room, "Oh, they're not there. Big shock."
