Shaky Start for the NY Mess

The 2010 NY Mets look a lot like the 2009 NY Mets - terrible.

Just 7 games into the season, and the NY Mets have found the basement of the NL East. Every ESPN Analyst on the planet predicted that the Mets would suck, but every Met fan on the planet kept that little thought in the back of their mind; "Yea we sucked last year, but everyone was hurt! imagine if they were all healthy!!"

Well yea, I had the same thought, but like every other NY Mets season it would seem, those thoughts were dashed.

Seriously: look at the Mets over the past 10 seasons...

    - 2000 Mets: 94-68 (2nd out of 5) - Lost WS to the damn Yankees 4-1
    - 2001 Mets: 82-80 (3rd out of 5) - Back to mediocrity
    - 2002 Mets: 75-86 (Last Place) - Bobby Valentine and his great 'stache gets fired
    - 2003 Mets: 66-95 (Last Place) - Art Howe experiment starts
    - 2004 Mets: 71-91 (4th out of 5) - Art Howe experiment ends, Mets suck again
    - 2005 Mets: 83-79 (3rd out of 5) - Willie takes over, Mets return to over .500 ball
    - 2006 Mets: 97-65 (1st in NL East) - Not sure what happened here, the Mets actually looked good until the Cardinals got lucky in game 7 of the NLCS
    - 2007 Mets: 88-74 (2nd out of 5) - Willie continues to drive the team to competitive ranks
    - 2008 Mets: 89-73 (2nd out of 5) - Mets improve again, it actually isn't embarrassing to be a Mets fan over this 3 year stretch.
    - 2009 Mets: 70-92 (4th out of 5) - That's more like it

Based on this data alone, you'd have to a complete moron to fire Willie Randolph. Oh wait... I forgot what our GM is trying to do with our team.

I mean seriously. We have one of the highest paid clubs in baseball and we can only buy 6 winning seasons out of 10? Is this the state of the union in Flushing? Where the hell is the passion?
